Directions
- Enable the "Developer" tab. Click the Microsoft logo at the top left of the window, then click "PowerPoint Options." In the "Options" menu, select the "Popular" tab on the side, then check mark the box that says "Show Developer Tab in the Ribbon" and click "OK."
- Click the "Developer" tab, then click on the "More Controls" icon at the top. Scroll down the list of controls until you find "Shockwave Flash Object," then select it and press "OK."
- Click and drag a box over the portion of the slide where you want to embed a YouTube video--this box can be resized and repositioned once you have created it.
- Go to the YouTube video you want to use in your PowerPoint presentation, and click "Share," then highlight and copy the URL of the video by pressing "Ctrl" and "C" or by right-clicking the URL and selecting "Copy."
- Go back to the PowerPoint presentation and right click on the box you just created, then select "Properties." Click "Movie" and paste the YouTube video URL by pressing "Ctrl" and "V" or by right-clicking the text box and selecting "Paste." Highlight the portion of the video URL that says "Watch?" and delete it from the URL. Highlight the equal sign in the URL and replace it with a slash. Click the "X" to close the "Properties" window. The YouTube video will now be embedded on this slide.
Information & Caution
- From the "Properties" window, you can change a few options to fit your needs. For instance, if you don't want the video to loop, click "Loop" and select "False."
- The YouTube video you embed in your presentation will only play as long as the computer you are presenting it on is connected to the Internet.
